I might remove Daves stupid rule because of the two stage strikes but im not convinced there should be only one stage strike yet. This may change at a later date but regarding the Mac argument he's far better on Lylat than Smashville imo.
If there's no objection to the stage list currently in place by the end of today id like to lock those rules in for at least the tourney this weekend.
Also Karnu I'm relying completely on you for PM. Haven't heard any hype or even people bringing setups - do people even want PM?

Lylat tilts, and is covered completely by platforms. There is no way he is better on that stage. I first ban it if I'm playing Mac now that pilot tilts is no longer legal.
Use another character for an example, projectile based, space control characters now run the risk of having the 2 biggest stages (Seige & Delfino in transformations) countered off them. Duck Hunt Duo is a prime example of a character who now is forced to play close quarters for a set because the bigger stages are banned.
The only benefit I can see in having that stage list, and a 2 strike system, is now I can get rid of Town & City and Kongo 64 against Sonic so that I only have to worry about getting circle camped for a 3rd of the match on Siege. The whole point of the loser choosing the stage is so that they can grant themselves an advantage. Why do we need to add another strike when 1 has always worked perfectly fine without disrupting the MU. If the better player loses the second match, they'll win the third because they now have the strike/pick advantage. (Working as intended)

Hmmm I thought people wouldn't like having to fight my Megaman without being able to ban both Town and City and Congo Jungle 64, but if there's no opposition to this I can change it to one stage strike?
Whatever ruleset we decide, this weekend will be the best test of it.

This is in two days.
I've done up a few printed copies of an overview of the rules so that the legal stages and the character / stage selection process is clear. Note that they aren't the complete rules.
PLAY Warehouse IX Sm4sh Wii U results are up with complete character data. Special shoutouts to Sloth for TOing Melee on really short notice and being awesome with communication between the games all day. Blade also did a good job getting character data and everyone was really good with yelling out when a setup was free which helped massively. Was quite impressive to see over 40 people in attendance with 34 entering Sm4sh Wii U. Hopefully the Melee results can come a bit later.
I feel like I deserved having the crowd of people behind me in finals v Jezmo's Diddy counting down loudly the last few seconds of the match when he timed me out because of how I timed Hotdog and Jaice out BUT OMG ITS MEGAMAN HE CANT KILL PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO SHIELD YOU'RE ALL HORRIBLE PEOPLE HOW DARE YOU CHEER FOR THE DIDDY PLAYER
We will look at removing from the legal stage list Kongo Jungle 64 after I circle camped Jaice's Duck Hunt Duo on that stage because that was pretty bad and probably remove Castle Siege as well. Archaze and I are also considering compiling the first Wii U QLD Power Rankings of the top ten players in the state, so stay tuned! It will be quite hard considering a few people who came as their first tournament such as Cecil and Shuki managed to place 5th and 7th respectively but exciting to see such ability in new players!
I'd also like to address the drama which Karnu seems to be generating on here, Skype and Facebook about the Melee TOing seeing as it's now pretty public. To be clear, Karnu had confirmed with me over Skype that he would TO Melee if he was able to make it, and also said the only reason he wouldn't come is if his car wouldn't make it. From what I understand Karnu chose not to attend not because of his car, but because of something he has on next weekend and there not being many Melee players at PW (which I don't understand cos there were two Melee brackets). This decision was made and posted to Facebook (which I'm not on and don't see) at around 10pm the night before and was not communicated to me at all. Thankfully Archaze lined up Sloth who together saved the day for the Melee players.
It's fine that Karnu couldn't TO Melee, but after telling someone you can rely on them for something it's just common courtesy to let them know that you can't directly, especially when it's so close to the wire with timing. If Karnu just forgot to tell me then that's fine as just an honest mistake, but a lot of the things that have been said afterwards I've found quite antagonistic to the situation and could really have just been avoided. In particular the stabs at Sm4sh players that were made were not appropriate and just fuel the stupid Melee / Sm4sh schism that the internet seems to want to create.
I'm not angry about this, just disappointed it couldn't have been handled in a bit more of a mature manner.

Should have seen it all laminated and shiny irl.
It's already wrong though so will have to make new ones. Looking at booking a few of these tournament months ahead on Sunday.

May as well say what I thought about this tournament now.
Expertly run. Ran excellently, on time and with a very happy group of smashers. Only issue was that with 40 players, that room is a bit small, but that's tough shit really.
Kongo Jungle should go, and as someone who doesn't gaf about stages, I'd be happy to see Town and City, CS and Duck Hunt go, as well (I just hate Duck Hunt)
Excellent to see some really solid new Smashers. Once they start really getting those principles down and expanding on their game, they'll be serious threats.
I'd love to see a Crew Battle or something to that effect at a tournament of that scale. Small room always makes Crew Battles more hype, and I still remember this awesome felling when I played in my first crew battle at my second tournament. Downing Sieg and then getting bodied by Amaterasu. It was an awesome moment, although I was only like, 13.
Shoutouts to Kaion. Superbly run tournament and well done of getting 2'nd. Idc what everyone says, as someone who used to play a campy Pit in Brawl, I know the concentration that goes into doing what you did for an entire day, and winning. Also, I read leaf shield was a bad move a few pages back. Diddy v Mega would be like 80-20 without it lelelelel
Aerodrome: Nice placing, but you can do even better. I've seen it. Pick up one or two good characters and stick with them. Sorry for letting you down in doubles. Was a bit sidetracked because of my cat.
AD3PT: Shitty we didn't get to play, but nice job knocking out a solid looking Jaice.
Hotdog: I remember beating you at my second tournament in Brawl. I was super happy and thought I had the edge on you. Think you won every set after that. Once you download Diddy I'm in trouble. Ggs.
Blade: Idk what to say. You looked like a Smasher. There's definite room for improvement but you looked legit. Very nice, man.
Also Kaion, lets feking meet up and get super good at this game and dominate this entire state kthx.

Jezmo said:on time
We actually ran 90 minutes over derp but the owners were nice enough to let us stay and finish.
Agreed about Kongo Jungle - I vsed Jaice's DHD on that stage in our match for round 3. He suicided within like a minute, so I took that as my cue to circle camp him the entire match. I think that has to be the dirtiest match I've played on Wii U so far.

I support this. Also probably gonna do singles and 4 ways to mix things up next tourney. Jezmo/Shitashi/Blade/Aero will be unstoppable, with Emery as backup/moral support/yelling at me to utilt more.

Confirming team name change:
I hate Jaice -> We hate Jaice It's not looking like I'll be able to organise another PLAY Warehouse in February. After this week, the weekends align as follows:
> Next weekend is an election and everyone has to vote
> Following weekend there is a Magic tournament at PW the following week
> *FREE WEEK*
> UQ Smash
> Button Smash
The only real time I had for this was before UQ Smash, but I'm not too keen on having three Smash tourneys in three weeks, especially when the final on is a major with a high price for entry.
I have submitted a list of dates up to June for events in PLAY Warehouse, so stay tuned to hear what gets planned after February.
