Intro
Even in a year filled with challenges, Kuriboh has shown moments of brilliance and determination. Their contributions have had a meaningful impact, and today, we want to see the successes and highlights that truly reflect their potential and dedication. (CHAT GPT!!!)
Storm the Castle 14 -
The first thing that happened in this event was doubles. He entered the event teaming with the returning metaghost20XX after a 3 month hiatus. We won against LarmDlarma and TakaDaka, the team of TheLastJairBender (Froggo) and Cotton, and KingEngine and Pondi, all 2-0, lightwork. We wait till grands when we go up against Taipan and Spike who from my memory were playing Mario and Sonic. It doesn’t matter as we beat them and take home the W for dubs.
In single pools, Kuriboh got 2nd, beating Dazey, KingEngine and Aurora and only losing to Fai 2-0. Kuriboh would make it into pro bracket, only beating Pondi 3-1 and then losing to Spike 3-1, sending the Cloud player to losers. He goes through Aurora and makes the upset against Skye in a nail-biting game 5. His singles run would finally end when he runs into Fai once again, losing to her 3-0, ending his run at 5th.
SBB, Wakey Wakey -
On the 28th of April, about a week after STC 14, Kuriboh would enter SBB, Wakey Wakey in hopes to carry that momentum from the STC before. He would go up against BloodMoon the Zelda as his round 1 and would win 3-2 to advance to round 2 where he would verse Dmo which he unfortunately got 3-0’d but it’s not over yet. In his losers bracket, he would beat Cashworks in a 3-0 victory and then win against GPS in a 3-2 victory before falling to Plump in a 3-0 loss, getting him 9th place.
FIST 2024 -
Kuriboh would make a trip down to Tasmania for their major, FIST 2024. He would be in pool 2 of that event and beat Oridian 2-0 which would let him advance to round 2 against Stacked the Falco/ROB player. Kuriboh would take a game off Stacked’s Falco which forces him to swap to ROB where he unfortunately loses to in a 2-1 last stock last hit situation. Kuriboh is sent down to losers where he would make a really good losers run by beating Jordan 2-0, Trucks 2-1, Sayhnim 2-1 (I taught him!), and Jai2Go 2-0, before reaching the round before top 8 where he would run into Stacked again, losing to him 3-1. He has got 9th in this event, which is his furthest placing in a major ever.
MegaLAN T2: Steampunk -
When he returned to NSW, he wasn’t achieving what he’s expected, getting low placings at the SBB after his return and not making it out of pools at Epping regardless of a win against Drasi. But he would enter MegaLAN T2: Steampunk where he got 5th by going through F1ERCE round 2 and making the huge upset against the 2nd seed of the tournament, 2-0, thus making it through winners side of top 8. However his run would be cut short as he would lose to Morgone 3-1 and Olag 3-0, ending his run at 5th.
POG 10
This would be by far the biggest highlight in Kuribohs 2024. He would carry the momentum from MegaLAN by going through ASpongeCake, RoseCB, Hawtnoodz, before losing to Paris, sending him to losers, but goes through AndrewSSB and finally reaching Grands, facing Paris again for the runbback. However we had to rush things so the sets were only just a best of 1. So in the old fashioned way, Kuriboh and Paris did randittos for both sets and Kuriboh won them all by getting Sheik and Rosa(?), thus winning his first offline event with his Cloud, his awesome Ivysaur and also proving to be the best Sheik in NSW for a while.
SBB, Sign up for Floating Point -
On the road to floating point, he would enter an SBB sometime before the Epping arcadian. He beat AndrewSBB round 1 before losing to Relo 3-0 and his reason is apparently he doesn’t like listening to “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar, which threw him off. In losers, he would go through AJ and BigRatt before losing to Roboticjo, only taking a game and ending his run at 9th.
Floating Point -
On the day when doubles happened, Kuriboh would team up with Metaghost again in doubles. Round 1 we swept TJ666 and Rancy and then losing a game 3 to Slimboy and Xav’s Yoshi and Peach respectively. We then make the coolest losers run in doubles history by going through MDerp and Wooks, TurtleCat and Leak, Johto and Luma, Violet and RoboticJo, and finally beating Guts_LP and Isak to make Top 8 at our first major. We would then lose to Slimboy and Xav in the runback 3-1, getting 7th. I would like to say that we did it because of the power of friendship and Kuriboh made most of the clutches.
Even though he did not do well in main bracket after losing to FOOD and Kaizyan, only being 1 round away from making the top cut, Kuriboh would be sent into Gold Ammies and he had a really good run there. He faced Lonk to win 2-0 and make the big upset on (REDACTED) (Person who lost has asked me to not mention his name). He beats Magnus 2-0 to make Top 8 through winners side and then losing to Fontanna and RAMBO 2-0, ending his run at 5th.
Epping 30 -
Kuriboh would enter the 30th edition of the Epping monthly as the 42nd seed. He started off bad with a 2-0 loss to Sage round 1 and then making a good losers run by sweeping pools in losers and then beating Cloudy and TurtleCat in Pro before losing to Joe via a misinput in a game 5 last stock last hit, ending his run at 13th place.
SBB Big Rizzzzza -
Kuriboh told me to barely talk about it so in this tournament he beat Kathie and roboticjo ok next.
Offstage 96 -
The last tournament of the year he would go to is Offstage 96. He would win against Oberon round 1 and then getting sent to losers by Violet. He would then make a losers run by going through Hal, GPS and Spike, before losing to Guts at 13th place.
Some other things to add, he made CKC more goated and relevant than it was now thank you Kuriboh and he also made a diss track on Ryan. And also he has a goated Ivysaur which is why you should look forward to his PT which has the potential to be the greatest!
