An Overview of Queensland’s Jan-Apr 2026 PR
Queensland’s formula has been shaken up quite a bit this year. With the Pincadia Pummel series ending, Shopping Spree in Garden City has become the new weekly with TO Smay implementing more best-of-five sets for players to compete in. This season has also seen a new monthly in the form of Bait n Swich, ran by arc in Ipswich. The scene saw a majority of its players enter many locals in preparation for Floating Point 2026, but where did that leave the state’s rankings? Sit tight as this article breaks down each PR player’s season, as well as delving into players to keep an eye on next season and some inactive talent that saw some action this year.

The Players

1st: Smay Corrin

Placing Difference: +0
Tournaments Attended: 7

Coming in with another first placing, Smay has ended this season without sporting a single losing record in Queensland. The Corrin main claimed the biggest tournament of the season Pincadia: The Final Pummel. Out of 32 entrants, his run scored him wins on J-Rods, Bagel, Benedict, Brain Power and BakedGoods. While competing interstate at Floating Point 2026, he secured wins on Ryan, Finn, Froggo, Gravity and Governor to reach 13th out of 162, losing only to DD and Toasted_Panini. As a final note, his Olimar was spotted in the wild at Off the Rails 3 getting 4th out of 22, leaving it a mystery on which characters this weekly TO will don next season.

2nd: J-Rods KingKRool

Placing Difference: +0
Tournaments Attended: 14

Our King K. Rool main has maintained his groove from last season with the debut of a new pocket. His standout performance here is Off the Rails 5 beating Bagel, past bracket demon AlastairBL and beating Smay twice in grand finals to claim 1st out of 22 entrants. After falling out of winners side early at Floating Point 2026, J-Rods made a losers run through five rounds to land 17th out of 162. He claimed wins over vine, Chipotle, Shriolebg and germanpogostick before eventually falling to MemeGod. As alluded to before, we saw Hero as a new pocket that might make an appearance again, should a certain matchup keep him awake at night.

3rd: Bagel PyraMythra

Placing Difference: +4
Tournaments Attended: 11

Taking a huge leap from being ranked 7th on the last PR, Bagel lands at 3rd after an impressive performance this season. FILTHY 36 stands out as his best result, breaking the 2nd place curse after beating Joser, AlastairBL and Metalotl twice to claim 1st out of 16. While he planned to attend Floating Point 2026, an unfortunate DQ after falling ill kept his results within Queensland. The pocket Mario made rare appearances this season but has already been grabbing impressive results heading into the May-Aug season.

4th: Benedict MiiGunner

Placing Difference: +2
Tournaments Attended: 5

After his PR debut last season, Benedict has followed it up by climbing two places to reach 4th. The Mii Gunner made a long and impressive run at Off the Rails 3, claiming wins over Smay, J-Rods, Bagel and Litty to finish 2nd out of 22. Benedict also claimed his first bracket win at Bait n Swich 2 to add to his strong win records in Queensland. Speaking of strong records, Benedict is the only player of the season to maintain a non-losing H2H against our #1 PR Smay with a 1W-1L standing. Whether he's higher up on PR or shooting grenades at the ledge, Benedict is likely to be seen in the mix next season.

5th: Metalotl Mewtwo

Placement Difference: RTN
Events Entered: 14

Metalotl makes a return to the PR at 5th place, marking a large improvement over his 8th placing in mid-2025. He also joins the group of players claiming their first bracket wins with his performance at Shopping Spree 4. With two wins on Bagel and one on Elijah, this run stands out as his best this season. The youngster was also notably one of the two players in Queensland to take a set off of Smay's Corrin, at Pincadia: The Last Pummel. With momentum heading into the next season, the tail hurtbox won't be slowing down this dedicated Mewtwo main.

6th: Litty Daisy

Placement Difference: -2
Tournaments Attended: 5

With results of valleys and peaks, Litty hovers to 6th place on the rankings. Despite some inconsistencies, the Daisy main had a strong performance at Off the Rails 3. The run included wins on J-Rods, Benedict twice and Brain Power to claim 1st out of 22. A Dr Mario pocket made appearances throughout her brackets as a change of pace but was kept scarce. With only a couple of Top 3 placings, Litty's bracket runs have been cut a bit short before getting a chance to grab some more crucial wins against Queensland's top talent. Once consistency is improved, the Daisy main could see her placements rise again.

Names to Look Out For

Elijah Mario

Tournaments Attended: 12

The local Mario main has had his strongest performance this season with an even record on a PR player as well as taking his first tournament. At Bait n Swich 1, Elijah claimed 1st out of 12 and scored two wins on Bagel to take the bracket. FILTHY 34 also saw him secure a win over Metalotl landing him a 4th place out of 15. Showing that he's capable of taking multiple sets off of the PR, Elijah demonstrates results that can grow into future top 3 placements and even stronger set records.

Brain Power BanjoKazooie

Tournaments Attended: 7

After being present on all of last year's PRs, our Gold Coast Banjo is unfortunately just shy from making the rankings this season. However, this isn't to say he's had a bad performance at all. He scored 3rd at Pincadia: The Final Pummel as his standout result, clutching a win on Benedict in a tight game 5 closer. Although Brain Power’s runs didn’t allow him to pick up further PR wins to secure a spot for himself, he’s still demonstrated he has what it takes to be in contention for the rankings next season.

Mad Snake

Tournaments attended: 10

In his first Queensland season, Mad has made a rather strong impression to keep an eye on going into the next season. Shopping Spree 2 saw him making an upset on Metalotl and then beating Jane to secure 3rd out of 14 overall. The very next week saw him knocking Bagel out of Shopping Spree 3 to make a run to 4th out of 16. Lastly, the Snake made an upset on Litty at FILTHY 35 to end the season with a tied 1W-1L record on her. Should Mad continue to end players' runs early, he'll be a force to keep an eye on in the future.

Inactive Wonders

AlastairBL Sora

Tournaments Entered: 3

When the Sora returned to Queensland, many expected the PR to have a space with Alastair's name on it. Unfortunately, he was just one tournament short from meeting the minimum requirement of brackets entered to be eligible for the PR. Standout results were not on short supply however as he claimed 1st place out of Shopping Spree 6's 19 entrants. He picked up a win on Bagel and two on Metalotl. This led to him ending the season with an even win record on Bagel while having positives on Metalotl and Benedict. If the New Zealand Sora enters in future, he is expected to make waves similar to last year's 1st placing on the Jan-Apr PR.

Joser DiddyJoker

Tournaments Entered: 3

Joser sees a similar situation to Alastair with some positive win records and a bracket win under his belt. Shopping Spree: Opening Day saw him claim wins on J-Rods and Metalotl to place 1st out of 25. Apart from an extra Metalotl win at Off the Rails 5, this inactive wonder did not gain any further strong wins but came close to scoring a win on Smay in a game 5 set. Joser has already attended an event early into the following season but it is yet to be seen if we'll see him fighting up the ranks again.

BakedGoods Bowser

Tournaments Entered: 2

Despite his vocal distaste for this game, BakedGoods made his mark as an inactive threat this season with his performance at FILTHY 35. Here, the Bowser saw a bracket win out of 16, taking down Metalotl and Mad. BakedGoods could have seen another deep bracket run at Pincadia: The Final Pummel, but fell at 9th due to 1st seed Smay getting upset into his losers path. A future PR placing could be seen from an already impressive showing at a weekly in the season moving forward.
