Rules:

oh yeah I just checked the dm and it does say and lol

well yeah I wasnt gonna say everything exactly in my dm asi was paraphrasing as just copy pasting your dm will get you modkilled so yeah this seems like a very easy mistake you guys are putting too much weight on.
AND i wasnt trying to make my role too obvious in my original thingies anyways so i was like double down paraphrasing hense all the Z power shit so nitpicking that hard is a bit fucky.

oh and dean it actually was that cryptic or whatever what my power was he pretty much justified how my character does it with a bunch of flavour and it doesnt just say doctor it's like spirit doctor. and how some roles can be like ODD doctor or CRAZY doctor or whatever etc. yeah I first i was actually trying to make sense of it not realizing it was useless and im just a vanilla doctor. also this thoughts backs up my thoughts that at first light was town since I thought spirit was a modifier of some kind smile

especially since the 1 info I did get before the game was that invisi was gonna have a bunch of custom roles! after I heard this from BD it made me want to join so when i saw spirit doctor i expected something neat and not lame vanilla doctor.

I understand where you're coming from, but if you really are town this is a classic case of why you shouldn't be dishonest as a town player. The problem when you try to hide information is that it comes across as sketchy and when you start getting your stories muddled up it looks like you're lying.

But yeah alright, we've got time I suppose so I don't mind waiting for the others to post their opinions. The hammer is off the the moment.

I'm not sure if I trust Jeans here. Doc is a big role to call and we have no evidence cuz day 1.
Way I see it because he has called doc he probably wont make it past this night or tomorrow night anyways as he will be targeted by at least 1 mafia group (if both and reading how his powers work then he will be fully dead anyways).
So its a question of whether we don't lynch and he will be dead soon. Or lynch a man calling doc.

I think JEANS has enough experience as a player to know that being cryptic then waiting until the day before the deadline to claim doctor, isn't how you should handle a situation like this. There are far to many inconsistencies with what he's saying for me to think he's telling the truth about his role.

In his defense you reaaaally don't want to have to claim your role day 1, especially as doctor. If another role is forced to claim, they can at least hope that a doctor protects them (pretty good odds this game has 1 even if it's not JEANS)

So do we think he's just played extremely awfully as a townie so far, or that he's mafia? Since it's day 1 I'd rather take the occam's razor approach and say that someone who's made themselves look scummy is probably scum.

ok so the thing with jeans claim is that i was really willing to give him a chance as i know how annoying it can be to have to deal w people nitpicking ur posts especially when some of em are more trolly in nature. but tbh i think the fact that out of all possible claims he's claiming doctor makes it really hard for me to trust him

i been reading a lot of mafiawiki bc i want to maybe not suck in this game and i remember reading a page a few days ago that talked about how doctor is a really common claim by anti town because 1) it's really bad for the real doctor to come out and challenge the claim as it's such a powerful role, and 2) it's really hard to push the lynch any further bc then you look scummy for 'voting for doctor'.

and yeah cos of this i kinda agree with ghost that out of all the people playing this game, the one we found to be the most inconsistent and have the most discrepancies in his posts turns out to be town doctor? just feels so weird. would someone with as strong a role as doctor play like JEANS did?

while its nice to have some backup on longshot finally (thx maribro) i feel like i gotta go w my gut and put jeans back on l-1 bc everything about this feels so off

Yeah but if you're about to get lynched you're still better off claiming doctor than letting yourself get lynched.

My opinion on whether or not he's telling the truth keeps seesawing back and forwards at the moment. Was literally about to hammer him but his latest post seems plausible to me and surprisingly responds to all my questions believably.

The doctor not being able to save someone if both factions vote them is a really interesting mechanic and I don't believe JEANS could have made this up on his own. If he did then he's actually a way better player than people give him credit for despite tripping over himself on occasion.

The only way I could see him making up a power like this out of the blue is if there is a similar anti town power and he just substituted doctor into it. But I'm not sure there would be anything that would line up like that, having a power that fails if both factions do something to it seems like it could only be a town power.

oh yeah shit whoops i completely forgot about that

hes posted very infrequently with multiple posts basically just being glorified activity posts and the one time he was pressured he deflected with some sort of soft claim where he said 'i may have more to offer later in the game than at present' in lieu of actually contributing anything. his votes also seem pretty bandwagony. all in all he may just be bad town but i really dont like his soft claim, though reading it again he might have been talking more about his playstyle than his role?? regardless i dont like it.

It is normally his playstyle to not contribute much early. But this compared to the last game you linked is almost a full 180 of trying to be better early but then going into not contributing again.

Before today ends I really would like to see a propper post from him

It's normal for a doctor to only be able to protect against 1 kill per night.
If it's just a regular doctor by the sounds of it, I feel like there's zero chance that it would be explicitly stated that the "heal" would fail if they were shot by 2 kills in one night.

just gonna go indepth on some things so hopefully you can see where i was coming from as a townie.

if i was any role that wasnt doctor I wouldve just claimed what i was eariler lol. why do you think i was so hesitant on it! what'd you want me to do!? I tried defending myself with no claim and you still wanted to lynch me.

and all the z power crap. and if ill be honest, i knew claiming doctor there wouldnt save me either, as more logic like from extra would come out saying 'well a fakeclaim doctor is very common!'
oh and I also knew people would claim i was stalling too and I was really close to write 'inb4 stalling' but I thought the ones that call me out for 'stalling' might be useful to the town too.

then i wanted to see who would encourage me most to claim, to give town some information that way. yeah that didnt really work out lol in retrospect, as encouraging someone to claim a role under pressure isnt really antitown behavior. so shouldve just claimed it then and then i guess that way the 'stalling' thing couldnt be used against me. (it's worse now that i didnt, but If i successfully defended myself without claiming it wouldve been 1000x better. so I took the risk)

i imagine the dm included it beacause probably the number 1 question of any doctor in a double mafia game is gonna be 'hat happens if both mafia target them'

Doctors only protecting from one kill is pretty standard.

I don’t think you can read “if light and dark both try to kill the player you try to protect the protect doesn’t work” or whatever would have hypothetically been written in the PM and come out of this assuming that Light would be the good guys...

Phrasing is still an issue too. “Light and Dark” instead of “multiple kill attempts” would still tell him there are no town killing roles for no reason.

And I don’t care how much flavour the mod put into his PM surely there’s no way you can read a role and not understand “I save people I’m a town doctor” right away.

The huge tonal shifts between yesterday’s posts and today’s and the huge absence between yesterday afternoon and today don’t do him any favours.

I think a doctor would try a bit harder to play pro-town and not draw negative attention to themselves with “modkill asa” and “I actually want to start a train on Ghost”?

I also didn’t like Maribro’s post very much at all; with that timing and with no explanations given at all it just seems like an attempt to divert attention away from JEANS the smarter thing would be to wait until you can explain yourself better before posting but we’ll save that for tomorrow!

@dean,the rest of he dm was in flavour. like i said justifying in LORE reasons of how i x heal player. and I was only confused because i thought 'SPITIT DOCTOR' meant SPIRIT was a modifier. did you miss when i said that before? this is in line with how I said i thought light was town while reading it, and thought spirit was some type of modifier or something confusing. since i was promised ALL NEW UNIQUE ROLES by bd.
@bd hey can you confirm this, bit sus you didnt confirm we had this interaction before the game started.

I also dont know why the dm saying 'light and dark target' is any strange when the rest of the dm is in flavour. sure it reveals there's no town killing roles but eh, that's what i gathered it implied straight away too after I leant light was mafia. and tbh, is town kill role super common in double mafia anyway? he already revealed no indiv role this game and that's something normally you have to figure out on your own. so it doesnt seem like such a strech.
