Like the quality of Laggy's posts isn't actually very impressive. I think the main thing is that he's actually trying to play properly which is much more reminiscent of games where he rolled town and DIDN'T get lynched within 24 hours (as few as these games may be). Scum Laggy tends to go into his shell and just make snarky comments at whoever starts his vote train (usually Aero); at least that's my read.

WRT Boozer; in my defence I hadn't properly read his large post on this page (which set off a few warning bells in my head) but until that point he was kind of uhhh derpy and stupid? Which is kind of how he always is? With Boozer I'd usually look for changes in personality which I hadn't seen (until today, but that's what two week days are for!). You've known him for as long as I have.

Believe me, if "contributing to town" was the bases I used to scumhunt I definitely would not have town read these two.

My good mouse is broken btw, there's more I'd like to respond to on this page but scrolling etc. is a pain so it might wait until I'm back at work tomorrow. Didn't think I'd start a new page; replace "this page" with last page in above post.

No. It's just that when people are mafia they acquire game knowledge (ie. they know who all the other mafia members are) which enables them to play more confidently than they otherwise would. It's surprisingly easy to contribute to town discussion when you have information that other people do not have. Spacejam did this in the previous game I mentioned before.

As far as I'm concerned I think Laggy is playing significantly different to previous games. I suppose to depends if you believe his "I'm older so I've gotten better" argument.

Understandable on the Boozer side of things if you hadn't read his post where he went serious mode. As I mentioned, I'd also not thought anything of this until Extra pointed it out.

Also Aero I agree that Dean thinking what he was thinking doesn't make him mafia or anything, I was more inquiring for more information as to why he was reading them as town.

Man I get that he's older now and that's a really convenient excuse for suddenly contributing useful posts out of nowhere but the last person who showed sudden improvement was Spacejam in a previous game. In that game he went from literally memeing to posting quality content and discussion.

When I called this out he basically made me feel like trash because he said he was trying really hard to turn over a new leaf and be an asset to town for a change. And that he had some sort of medical issues or something like that. Anyway tldr is that he made me feel bad for voting for him.

If for whatever reason you don't find a significant difference in his playstyle let me know and I'll go back and force myself to re-read these as well.

Not going to lie, I haven't recently read any of the old threads to see what Laggy did in the past games but having played a few with him I do not believe he has made as much contribution to a single game as this one.

Even though he has some garbage posts still a shocking amount of things he is saying actually seem reasonably thought out.

The main reason I brought this up is because in that particular game I recognised an inconsistency in a player extremely early on and I let him convince me that I was wrong (even though I was right).

So yes, these two are completely different players. But the point is that my gut feeling is telling me something is wrong with the way Laggy is playing and I don't want to repeat my past mistakes by just letting this go.

would like to hear more from dean about how he felt by my post and whether or not it swayed him towards being more or less suspicious of me. if not that's fine, but if you go to all that trouble i'd at least like more than a one-off line about how you're not just judging ppl by how they contribute to town. i feel neglected :(

not 100% convinced by bijou's argument but also not convinced by dean's counterargument. laggy being mafia doesn't necessarily mean the other mafia members would be crafting his posts for him. chances are it'd be something more simple than that, basic suggestions that he goes ahead and words however he feels like. i don't get the feeling any of his posts are 'manufactured'.

not sure if im using an excuse (again), but i havent really played forum mafia in a while, so if i say something out of line, its probably that.

as terms for how i act? i mean thats how i acted when i role town or mafia 2 years ago, nothing really changed. maybe there were one or two differences but not that much really.

Page 3 (day start): Mostly just banter really, nothing to really gleam from it

Page 4: More banter, nothing really juicy yet, I don't really think there was much suspicious with the MrL train given the context of what happened last game.

This post gives me the BIG think. This doesn't seem like a manufactured post at all, idk why mafia would tell Laggy to go on about jester. Let's see if any of Laggy's later posts have the same CONSISTENCY in posting!

Hmmmmm. There's something off about this post to me. Just in the mindset of lynching someone inactive over someone unhelpful… Just seems to have bad logic to me. It's consistent with what Laggy had said previously though but it still feels off. I'm probably tunneling though so I'll see if anything feels off with later posts.

Page 11: Finally a good fucking post from Boozer. "wowow" wasn't so hard was it?

I like Dean's reasoning on Extra, but I wouldn't be willing to kill someone as potentially strong as him on day 1. Maybe I'm just an idiot and Rhyno/BD have pulled together a mafia super team of Bijou/Atyeo/Extra/dean but usually there's a mix of skill in both the scum and townie teams. I'm not willing to lynch someone as powerful as Nick McKenzie at this stage. Maybe I can be swayed but for now, I'm not sure that's a good idea.

JonCheee being sus on DD is something I can vibe with for sure. He's defo up there for me. I'll write a little list when I'm done with this post.

Bijou's post here is good, but idk how I feel about Boozer yet. He's a huge mystery.

Page 12: Looks like dean also noticed that post from laggy going on about jester seems very "Laggy" and not really like a manufactured post.

Bijou seems to be tunneling a little too hard… Maybe you should reread the thread and try and focus on some other players you'd like to hear from/learn more about.

Weak town lean: Bijou (Too much tunneling but seems sincere), JonCheee (seems to be trying to analyse everything, gives his insight), Windkeeper0 (dunno lol just feels good)
Strong town lean: dean (Strong posts so far), JEANS (way more pro town than I've ever seen him, seems like he really wants to help)
